The AB CryptoBox 742HD Combo satellite receiver receives satellite, terrestrial, and cable television broadcasts. The device integrates one DVB-S2 tuner and one DVB-T/T2/C tuner with H.265/HEVC codec support. The satellite receiver decodes video in Full HD resolution up to 1080p at a frame rate of 60 frames per second. For decoding encrypted programmes, it offers one card reader and one CI slot. The device is functionally identical to the AB CryptoBox 752HD Combo model but features a seven-segment LED display on the front to show the time or channel number.

Signal Reception from Various Sources
The device combines a satellite, terrestrial, and cable tuner in a single body. It supports H.265/HEVC codec decoding, which complies with current broadcasting standards. Users can watch programmes from various sources without needing to switch between receivers. The internal memory stores up to 20,000 television channels and 200 satellites. The device can also store 8,000 transponders.
Automatic Tuning
Installation is made easier by the AllScan function, which automatically searches for available stations after inserting an access card. The system recognises the card type and sets the appropriate parameters. The FastScan function performs automatic programme tuning according to the selected television service provider. When broadcasting parameters change or new stations are added, the programme list updates itself. This means the user does not have to manually search for changed frequencies.
Recording and Multimedia Functions
Two USB 2.0 ports are used to connect external storage media. Users can record broadcasted shows directly onto a connected flash drive or external hard drive. The Timeshift function pauses live television broadcasts and then resumes them from the point of interruption. The integrated player supports video files, photos in JPG, BMP, GIF, and PNG formats, and music in MP3, WMA, or FLAC formats.
Network Connection
The receiver includes an RJ45 Ethernet port with a speed of 10/100 MBit for a wired internet connection. For a wireless connection, an external USB Wi-Fi adapter can be purchased, which plugs into one of the USB ports. The network functions expand the device's use with internet services and facilitate software updates. Updates can be performed via a USB drive, the Ethernet port, or the RS232 service interface.
Display and Information
The front panel features a 7-segment display that shows basic operational statuses. During active viewing, it displays the number of the currently selected channel. The EPG (Electronic Programme Guide) provides an overview of broadcasts for up to 7 days in advance. Parents can lock selected stations using the built-in lock.
Connectors
The rear panel includes one HDMI output for transferring video and audio to a television. An analogue audio output is provided for older types of audio equipment. The optical S/PDIF output transmits digital audio directly to a receiver or home cinema system. An internal 230V power supply powers the entire device from a standard electrical network. The unit weighs 0.92kg.
