Similarly to the first, second and third-generation Ryzen processors, the AMD Ryzen 5000 series is firmly anchored to the AM4 socket. However, you need a motherboard with a matching chipset. AMD B550, A520 or X570 have official support—the latter is clearly the preference for the vast majority of users. If you already own one of these boards, make sure that you have installed a new BIOS with AGESA 1.0.8.0 or newer (AGESA 1.1.0.0).
High-performance Zen 3 architecture is at the heart of the AMD Ryzen 7 5800X processor. The internal arrangement of CPU cores has had a complete overhaul and they are now concentrated into 8-core CCX (Core Complex) blocks with direct access to twice as much L3 Cache as Zen 2.
The most interesting benefit of the AMD Ryzen 5 5600G processor is the 19% increase in IPC (instructions per clock). AMD came up with this number as an average across 25 applications, so it's not an isolated increase in a pre-prepared situation.
