The worst thing that can happen to you when you work on a computer is a power outage minutes before you wanted to save your work. The unsaved work is irretrievably lost, and you have to start again from nothing. Repeats of such tragedies can be warded off by the APC Smart-UPS X 2200VA rack/tower LCD 200-240V backup source, or UPS. In principle, this hardware is just a large battery that powers all appliances needing electricity. The APC Smart-UPS X 2200VA rack/tower LCD 200-240V backup power uses the Line interactive design approach. Off-line is the most basic form if the electricity is interrupted, since it switches power to the UPS unit itself. The line interactive UPS also adds data line surge suppression to prevent damage from dangerous surges and spikes.

The most important attribute is the UPS run time during outages. This depends on the power consumption of the connected electronics – for example, at half-load (50%), the run time will be three times longer. The load of the backup source defines the operating time, which at full load (100%) is 9,8 min and at half-load, it's 25,3 min. It is therefore essential to calculate the power consumption of the connected electronics and ideally to have some spare energy in reserve. The APC Smart-UPS X 2200VA rack/tower LCD 200-240V measures the apparent power as 2200, but realistically, the actual usage matches the value of 1980 W.
