Speed, Wireless Standards and Whole-Home Coverage
The router works with the Wi-Fi 6 standard and transmits data at a total speed of up to 4,200Mbps. In the 5GHz band, it offers 160MHz of bandwidth to speed up data transfer for compatible devices. MU-MIMO and OFDMA technologies increase the overall capacity of the wireless network and speed up communication with multiple connected clients at the same time. The device maintains backward compatibility with older 802.11a, 802.11b, 802.11g and 802.11ac standards. The router supports ASUS AiMesh technology to easily create a unified network throughout your home. Users can connect multiple compatible ASUS routers to create a stable network with seamless roaming without signal dropouts.
Network Security and Data Protection
The AiProtection Pro security system, with technologies from Trend Micro, protects connected devices from internet threats. The WPA3 security standard encrypts wireless transmission and the built-in firewall blocks malicious traffic. The ASUS Safe Browsing feature filters unwanted and explicit internet content directly at the router level without needing to install additional apps. In addition, the Instant Guard mobile app creates an encrypted VPN tunnel when connecting to public Wi-Fi networks. Support for OpenVPN and WireGuard protocols complements the VPN Fusion tool for simultaneous normal and encrypted connections.
Ports and Connectors
Physical connectivity is provided by one gigabit WAN port and three gigabit LAN ports for wired devices. The router includes one USB 2.0 port and one USB 3.2 Gen 1 port, which are used for sharing files and printers on the local network. Users can also connect a USB modem for a backup mobile internet connection in case the main line fails.
