The rear-wheel drive Model Y (Standard Range) manufactured in Germany comes with either a BYD or CATL battery. The difference is in the diameter of the holes in the floor. You can determine the manufacturing plant of your Model Y by its VIN. The VIN can be found at the bottom of the windshield on the passenger side or in the vehicle registration document.
The first three letters provide the information:
LRW = Manufactured in China
XP7 = Manufactured in Germany
BYD vs. CATL battery resolution
To determine whether a rear-wheel drive Model Y from Germany has a BYD or CATL battery installed, the key is the seventh character of the VIN. Vehicles with the letter "E" in the seventh position have a BYD battery, while vehicles with the letter "F" have a CATL battery. These rules only apply to rear-wheel drive vehicles from Germany.
