BOSCH WNG254A0BY Series 6

Is it possible to change the door opening direction on the washing machine?
On the vast majority of front-loading washing machines, the door opening direction cannot be reversed, since the door hinge is permanently built into the front panel and tied to the electromagnetic safety lock. Reversible doors are more common on dryers or certain premium models.

Is it possible to remove the top panel?
On modern washing machines, the top panel cannot be removed for undercounter installation, as it provides protection against moisture and electrical hazards. These machines are designed to stand freely or fit under a sufficiently high countertop (85 cm).

The control of the washing machine is locked and the key symbol (child lock) is illuminated.
The child lock is active. To turn it off, press and hold the "Ready in" and "Spin speed" buttons — or the button marked with a key/3s icon — together for about 3 seconds. The machine will beep and the key symbol will go out.

Is it better to have a washing machine with or without i-DOS?
A washing machine with i-DOS (automatic dosing) is the better choice. It detects the load size, fabric type, and soil level, then doses detergent down to the milliliter. This can save up to 38% of water use and a significant amount of detergent each year, while helping prevent stains and residue buildup in the drum.

Can I use powdered detergent with a washing machine with i-DOS?
Yes, powdered detergent can be used, but it can't be dosed automatically. It needs to go manually into the compartment designated for manual dosing in the drawer, while the automatic i-DOS chambers are meant only for liquid detergent and softener.

i-DOS automatic dosing does not dispense detergent (in general).
Check whether the i-DOS function is switched on for that chamber on the control panel (look for the lit icon). Also check that the detergent isn't too thick — it can be diluted slightly with water — and that the drawer's suction valves aren't clogged; it's best to remove the drawer and rinse it thoroughly with warm water.

The washing machine does not dispense fabric softener.
For manual dosing, check whether the cap or siphon in the softener compartment is blocked — remove the drawer and rinse it with warm water. With i-DOS, make sure the chamber is set in the machine's menu to dispense softener (not a second detergent) and that dosing is switched on.

I am having trouble unscrewing the bottom filter for objects.
The filter is often blocked by limescale, lint, or a foreign object such as a coin. Avoid using excessive force, as this can strip the plastic thread. Try gently working it loose by turning it back and forth, or carefully use pliers with a cloth for grip. If the problem persists, it's best to contact authorized service.

How do I drain the water from the washing machine and open the locked door (if the program did not complete and ended with an error)?
Unplug the machine from the power supply. Open the small service panel at the bottom and drain the water into a container using the small emergency drain hose. Then pull the emergency release cord (usually a black or blue plastic tab) downward to mechanically unlock the door so it can be opened.

What are the dimensions of the washing machine?
Standard front-loading washing machines measure roughly 85 cm in height, 60 cm in width, and 55–60 cm in depth.

The washing machine jumps during the spin cycle.
This is most often caused by not removing the transit bolts on the back of the machine after unboxing. If they were removed, check that the machine is properly leveled on its adjustable feet and stands firmly on a stable floor. An overloaded drum or a single bulky item (like a blanket) causing an uneven load can also be the cause.

The laundry doesn't smell fresh after washing.
This usually happens due to bacteria and mold buildup inside the machine from frequent washing at low temperatures (30–40 °C). Run the Drum Clean program or an intensive 90 °C cycle with a washing machine cleaner and no laundry. After each wash, leave the door and detergent drawer slightly open.

What is the duration of each program?
Duration depends on the selected program and load size. Eco 40-60 usually takes the longest, around 3 to 3.5 hours, to maximize energy and water savings. Quick programs (Super 15'/30') take 15 to 30 minutes, while a standard Cotton 40 °C program runs about 2 to 2.5 hours.

Can I place a dryer on top of the washing machine?
Yes, this is possible and a popular space-saving setup. A dryer can be placed on top of a front-loading washing machine that's at least 55 cm deep. For safe installation, it's essential to use an original stacking kit, which may also include a handy pull-out shelf.

Why does the program time lengthen or shorten?
Washing machines are equipped with smart sensors (such as ActiveWater Plus) that monitor load size, fabric absorbency, and foam levels. If a smaller load is detected, the time is shortened dynamically. If there's excess foam or an unbalanced load, the machine adds extra rinses or tries to redistribute the laundry, which extends the time instead.

Can the water and drain connections of the washing machine be extended?
Yes. The AquaStop inlet hose can't be extended with a regular hose — an original extension kit (code WMZ2381 / WMZ20490), 2.5 meters long, must be used instead. The drain hose can be extended using a standard connector and extension hose, up to a maximum total length of 4 meters.
