The "Uncle Hansi" coffee collection is a tribute to Alsace's most famous artist, Jean-Jacques Waltz, whose drawings still bring a smile and a warm feeling of home. Jean-Jacques Waltz, known by the pseudonym Hansi, was a visionary and talented satirist who imprinted his love for his homeland and France into his immortal illustrations. His work, full of charming characters and picturesque nature, is inextricably linked to the spirit of Alsace - and it is this spirit that has inspired our exclusive range of coffees.
A Story of Courage and Unwavering Imagination
Hansi, born in 1873 in Colmar, was not just a "bad student" with a talent for caricaturing his teachers. He was a proud patriot who remained true to his convictions even in the most difficult times of two world wars. His journey took him from art schools in Lyon through textile design to globally renowned posters and books that defined the visual identity of Alsace.

Les Cafés Sati is a French, family-owned and independent company, founded in 1926 in Strasbourg, Alsace. Nearly 100 years of tradition, experience and know-how in producing quality coffee have been passed down from father to son in the Schulé family for three generations.

The selection of raw ingredients and the roasting process are overseen by quality manager Sébastien Maurer, a five-time French champion in coffee tasting. Every bean passes through the hands of experts with passion and respect, who together ensure that the coffee that reaches you will delight the senses and warm the heart.

Cafés Sati is not just about flavour – it's about sustainability, responsibility and trust. The company carefully selects partners from among farmers and cooperatives in Central and South America and East Africa, where the highest quality Arabica varieties are born. The collaboration with these growers is built on solid foundations of trust and fairness. For more than 20 years, the manufacturer has been offering certified organic and Fairtrade/Max Havelaar coffees, ensuring fair remuneration for farmers and supporting the improvement of their living and working conditions, while Sati also protects the environment.
A Commitment to Sustainability
For Sati, sustainability is not a trend. It's a commitment. Great coffee should not come at the expense of the planet or the people who grow it. The company actively promotes organic farming – the coffees carry the AB (Agriculture Biologique) certification, and at Sati, they carefully oversee the entire process from the farm to the roastery. The manufacturer has launched a range of compostable capsules, which were the first of their kind to be introduced to the market in France – fully decomposable at home, without the need for industrial processing.
