The FSP UPS CHAMP 3K rack 2U IEC backup power supply with online double-conversion topology provides a stable power source for critical infrastructure. This device offers an apparent power of 3000VA and a real power of 2700W. The universal Rack/Tower design effectively protects connected equipment from power outages and grid fluctuations, while the compact 2U height saves space in the data cabinet and simplifies overall installation in a server room. The FSP UPS CHAMP 3K rack 2U IEC backup power supply comes equipped with USB and RS-232 communication ports as standard. It also includes an intelligent slot for additional adapters and an optional SNMP card. The unit operates reliably in a temperature range of 0 to 40°C and at a relative humidity of 20 to 90% without condensation. The input circuits perform active power factor correction, which reduces interference back into the electrical grid. Generator compatibility ensures stable operation even when powered by unstable backup generators.

Topology and stable performance

The online double-conversion topology ensures zero transfer time when switching to battery power. The system continuously regulates the output voltage with an accuracy of +/- 1% and generates a pure sine wave. The output power factor reaches a value of 0.9, representing optimal use of the power capacity for connected servers and network elements. The device handles a wide input voltage range and offers a power-saving ECO mode as well as a special converter mode.

Battery system

The power supply uses six sealed lead-acid batteries with a voltage of 12V and a capacity of 9Ah. The charger restores 90% of the battery capacity in 4 hours, and for long-run models, its current can be increased up to 6A. Integrated microprocessor control optimises charging cycles and protects the batteries from deep discharge. The cold start function allows the backup power supply to be started even without a mains power supply.

Management and monitoring software

For management and status monitoring, there are USB and RS-232 communication interfaces, complemented by an intelligent slot for installing an optional SNMP card. System management is handled by ViewPower software, which supports Windows, Linux, MAC, and Solaris operating systems. The clear LCD display on the front panel facilitates immediate monitoring of operating parameters and the unit's current status. The 2U high design allows for easy installation in standard data cabinets, while the construction supports both vertical and horizontal positioning. The total weight of the device is 29.3kg with external dimensions of 88×438×630mm. The cooling system keeps the operating noise level below 50dBA at a distance of one metre from the device.
