Evercade Rare Collection 1 - Evercade
Pixel Adventures
Evercade Rare Collection 1 presents a selection of twelve legends who have shaped the British gaming scene. From the first pixel adventures to the famous 8-bit action rides, you'll get unmistakable Rare entertainment all in one place. The collection is ideal for those who love classics with a distinctive style and clever design.
Action, research and logic
The Evercade Rare Collection 1 range includes home computer gems such as Jetpac, Attic Atac and Knight Lore, which still surprise with their pace, atmosphere and imaginative gameplay. Each of the games shows a different approach to action, exploration and logic challenges and beautifully demonstrates how innovative Rare could be in its early years.
Races and distinctive humour
Fans of speed will be pleased with the R. C. Pro-Am and Cobra Triangle take you to the track and the water, while Conker's Pocket Tales delivers a cute adventure with unexpected humour. And of course the battles with the Dark Queen in both versions of Battletoads are iconic, challenging and still incredibly fun.
INVAZE
Alien Theme
Evercade Rare Collection 1 takes you back to Rare's roots. Jetpac and its successor Lunar Jetman are among the most essential action titles of their time, fast, simple and addictive. In Jetpac you build rockets, collect fuel and try to survive the constant onslaught of aliens, while Lunar Jetman takes the concept further with a lunar rover, tools and the threat of an impending invasion of Earth. Together, they create a living demonstration of how fun action on home computers could be, and Evercade now offers it in perfect form.
ADVENTURY
Quick action and exploration
Another strong chapter in Rare's history is their iconic adventure games. Atic Atac traps you in a strange, haunted castle where suspense is mixed with fast-paced action and an emphasis on exploration, while Sabre Wulf opens the gateway to the world of Sabreman, this time in a vast jungle full of danger and hidden treasures. Underwurlde and Knight Lore build on this series with different perspectives and atmospheres. Underwurlde relies on vertical progression through dark caverns in search of magical weapons, while Knight Lore brings groundbreaking isometric graphics and a dramatic challenge in the form of Sabreman's Curse of Fate. These are legends that shaped the genre and still fascinate today.
RACE
The Adventures of the Sheriff and 8bit Racing
When it comes to action in isometric terms, Evercade Rare Collection 1 has an ace outside of the Sabreman series. Gunfright takes you to the Wild West, where you take on the role of a fearless sheriff hunting bandits in a fast-paced, stylish adventure. Race fans will then have their fill in R. C. Pro-Am and Cobra Triangle, two titles, that show great, how exciting 8-bit racing can be, whether it's remote-controlled cars, or a turbo boat hurtling through the water full of snares. Both games are united by dynamism, speed and typical "Rare" playfulness.
FROGS
Combat, humour and challenging levels
Conclusion The Evercade Rare Collection 1 belongs to some of the studio's most famous heroes. Both Battletoads and Battletoads Arcade prove why the frog trio has become a legend, the combination of intense combat, humour, challenging levels and unmistakable style still works great years later. Finally, there is Conker's Pocket Tales, which shows the now iconic character of Conker in his adventurous, yet innocent period. Exploring vast worlds and trying to save a spoiled birthday make for a nice end to a varied and rare collection that offers a true cross-section of Rare's golden era at Evercade.
