GARNI 1NG integrated, wireless
The integrated 7-in-1 GARNI 1NG wireless sensor is an advanced solution for accurate measurement of meteorological parameters. It can monitor outside temperature, relative humidity, wind speed and direction, rainfall, UV index and solar radiation intensity. It reliably sends measured data to the main unit up to a distance of 150 meters in the open. It uses a solar panel for power and a built-in capacitor to ensure operation without the need for frequent battery changes. The capacitor is located next to the rain gauge funnel and receives its energy directly from the solar panel. When exposed to 100,000 lux of direct sunlight for four hours, it will fully charge and provide the sensor with power for the entire day, eliminating the need for backup batteries. These are activated only if the capacitor is not sufficiently charged.

Capacitor with automatic battery switching
If the built-in capacitor is not fully charged and the solar panel is not exposed to sufficient direct sunlight, the backup batteries automatically take over the power supply of the sensor. Once the capacitor is recharged, the system switches back to its power supply. In the event that the capacitor has completely exhausted its energy and the sensor is placed out of direct sunlight, the backup batteries could provide operation for approximately one year. The capacity of the built-in capacitor is approximately 12 mAh, while the daily power consumption of the sensor is 4.5 mAh. Under optimal conditions, when the solar panel is exposed to direct light of 100,000 lux for four hours, the capacitor is fully charged, allowing uninterrupted operation of the sensor for 48 hours. If the light exposure is lower, for example 30,000 lux for eight hours, the capacitor will also fully charge and provide power for the same period of time.

The battery life of the backup batteries in the 7-in-1 Integrated Wireless Sensor is an estimate only and may vary depending on the environmental conditions in which the sensor is operated. Factors such as temperature, humidity and the frequency of switching between the capacitor and the batteries can affect the actual battery life. For the most efficient use of solar energy, the tilt angle of the solar panel can be vertically adjusted in the range of 0, 15, 30, 45 and 60° depending on the geographical location and the amount of available sunlight. This maximises the efficiency of the capacitor charging and minimises the need to use backup batteries. The Solar Panel has a power output of 0.5 W when exposed to 40,000 lux of light, allowing stable and long-term operation of the sensor even in variable weather conditions.
