GS Mamatest is a fast pregnancy test that you can perform yourself. Based on qualitative chromatographic immunoassay, it detects the presence of human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG), which appears in the urine at a very early stage of pregnancy. You can use your urine as early as the first day of skipping your regular period. You can take the test at any time of the day. However, the most suitable is the first morning urine, which contains - if you are pregnant - the most pregnancy hormone.

Chorionic gonadotropin (hCG)

hCG is a glycoprotein hormone produced by the developing placenta shortly after fertilisation. In a normal pregnancy, hCG can be detected in the urine and in blood serum or plasma as early as 7 to 10 days after conception.1, 2, 3, 4 The level of hCG increases very rapidly. It often exceeds 100 mIU/ml on the first day of expected regular menstruation2, 3, 4 and peaks in the range of 100,000-200,000 mIU/ml between 10-12. week of pregnancy. Because hCG appears in both urine and blood serum or plasma shortly after conception and its concentration rises rapidly during early germinal tissue growth, its presence becomes an excellent indicator for early detection of pregnancy.

How does GS Mamatest work?

The GS Mamatest is a one-step test that works on the principle of lateral flow immunoassay in a format to qualitatively detect hCG in urine, thus helping to detect pregnancy. It uses a combination of monoclonal and polyclonal antibodies to selectively capture elevated hCG levels. Testing is done on a urine sample. The result is distinct colour lines.

  • Collection and preparation of urine sample:Collect the urine sample in a clean, dry container. The first urine of the morning is the most suitable as it usually contains the highest concentrations of hCG. However, urine collected at any time of the day can also be used. If the urine sample is cloudy (contains clots), wait until the cloudiness settles and the sample clears. Alternatively, turbidity can be removed by centrifugation and filtration prior to testing. You can collect urine samples in any clean, dry plastic or glass container.
  • Sample storage:If you do not use the urine sample for testing immediately after collection, you can store it for up to 48 hours at 2-8 °C. Samples can be stored frozen at -20 °C for long periods of time. Allow the frozen samples to thaw before use and then mix them.
  • What else you need: A clean and dry container to collect urine, a timer (clock or watch) - these supplies are not included in the test kit.

Performing the test

  • Soak in a clean, dry container.
  • Store the test at room temperature before opening the bag. Remove the test strip from the bag and use it within one hour of opening.
  • Dip the strip in the direction of the arrow into the urine sample. Important: do not immerse the test strip above the marked maximum immersion line, otherwise the test will not run correctly!
  • Start timing. After 15 seconds, you can remove the strip from the sample or leave it in the sample.
  • After three minutes you can read the test. Do not check out after 10 minutes.

Subtraction of research results

  • Positive result (you are pregnant): two distinct coloured stripes appeared in the control (C) and test (T) areas. The intensity of the colouring of the stripes can vary. One strip may be lighter than the other. It means you're probably pregnant.
  • Negative result (you are not pregnant): only one coloured stripe appeared, in the control area (C). There is no colour band in the test area (T). This means that the pregnancy was not confirmed by the test.
  • Valid result:if the test was not performed correctly, no coloured stripe appeared or only a stripe appeared in the test area but not in the control area. Repeat the test with a new set. If the test result is repeatedly invalid, please contact the manufacturer or dealer. Be sure to include the batch number.

Restrictions

  • GS Mamatest is a preliminary qualitative test. This means that it is not possible to quantify hCG concentrations or determine the rate of their rise.
  • Very dilute samples, characterised by low specific gravity, may not contain representative amounts of hCG to show a positive result. If you still think you are pregnant, repeat the test with your first morning urine at least 48 hours after the last test.
  • Very low levels of hCG (less than 50 mIU/ml) can be detected shortly after the embryo has settled in the uterus. However, since a relatively significant number of pregnancies end naturally during the first trimester,5 a result that appears to be weakly positive should be confirmed by a new test performed with the first morning urine at least 48 hours after the last test.
  • The test may show a false positive under certain circumstances. In addition to pregnancy, elevated hCG levels are also caused by a number of diseases, such as trophoblastic disease and some non-nephoblastic neoplasms, including testicular, prostate, breast and lung cancers.6, 7 Therefore, the presence of hCG should not be used alone to diagnose pregnancy without simultaneously excluding these diseases.
  • The test may show a false negative under certain circumstances. This can happen if the hCG level is too low, i.e. below the stated sensitivity limit. If you still think you are pregnant, repeat the test with your first morning urine at least 48 hours after the last test. If you still get a negative result, see a doctor for a more detailed examination. 6 This test provides a preliminary diagnosis of pregnancy. Your pregnancy can only be confirmed definitively by a doctor after further examinations.

Take 1 tablet daily after meals

Notice

Do not use after the expiry date found on the packaging. Do not use if the protective bag is torn or damaged. For diagnostic use in a urine sample container (in vitro) only. Do not use internally. Do not open the bag until just before use. Dispose of the used test with household waste. The test kit may only be used once.

Storage

Store in a dry place at 2-30 °C. Do not freeze. Keep out of reach of children.
