The compact, weatherproof sensor offers a wide range of applications in conjunction with other Homematic IP devices. The device monitors outdoor temperature and relative humidity. The measured values are then transmitted to the Central Unit (HmIP-HAP) and to the connected Homematic IP devices, which respond according to a predefined configuration. The device can be used both indoors and outdoors as a wireless, compact sensor that records temperatures between - 20 °C and + 55 °C and relative humidity between 0% and 99%.

HmIP-STHO temperature and humidity sensor - modular use and flexible installation
The temperature and humidity sensor (HmIP-STHO) provides modular usage options depending on the connection to other Homematic IP products via the free Homematic IP mobile app. Wireless communication and battery operation offer the possibility of variable installation of the sensor almost anywhere in the outdoor environment.The sensor can be used to control the air handling system, air conditioning or dehumidification, for the control and management of low temperatures, for example in greenhouses, conservatories, refrigerated boxes, cellars and also to other automation processes of the smart home system, setting different types of scenarios depending on temperature and humidity conditions.
Robust design and smart control via mobile app
The IP44 splash-proof design and operating temperature range between -20 °C and +55 °C ensures reliable operation even in the most demanding conditions. The Mobile App enables instant response to messages and alerts from the smart home system and connects all Homematic IP devices via a free, unlimited cloud, allowing you to set up and control the system from anywhere in the world, transfer important information and update device software and firmware, and pass configuration and operational commands from the Homematic IP App to individual smart home devices.
Data transfer and remote control
All measured values are cyclically transmitted via the central unit (HmIP-HAP) to the Homematic IP mobile app, allowing remote monitoring and individual control of the building depending on the current temperature and humidity conditions. By looking at the smartphone screen in the app, the user gets real and comprehensive information about the local measured values.
Power supply, installation and universal use
Two replaceable AA batteries allow low maintenance operation and ensure extremely long, up to five years of operation. When the battery capacity is reduced to the minimum, the user is informed by the Homematic IP application. Temperature and humidity sensor (HmIP-STHO) offers compact size and battery operation easy installation without the need for cabling. The package includes mounting material (dowels, screws).
