K&N Filter Cleaning Kit

Procedure for cleaning K&N air filters

1. The first step is to mechanically clean the filter, either with a brush or by gently tapping it. This can be done every 5,000 km. Do not blow compressed air through the filter, as this could damage its structure.
2. Then, spray the filter surface with the K&N cleaner. Warning: Never use aggressive cleaning agents (petrol, thinners, etc.), as this will cause irreversible damage to the filter.
3. After letting the cleaner work for 10–15 minutes, rinse the filter with water. If the shape of the filter allows, rinse in the opposite direction to which the air will flow through it. This will achieve a better clean.
4. Leave the filter to dry. It is best to let it air-dry—do not place the filter on a radiator.
5. Once dry, apply the oil to the filter. Only use K&N oil; other oils do not have the required properties, and some, for example, are too sticky and cannot be removed from the filter later. Once the oil has set on the filter, it can be reinstalled in the motorcycle.

Note:
The maintenance interval can vary significantly depending on driving conditions—from 100 km (in very dusty environments) to 15,000 km in normal road use.
