The Panasonic Lumix S 100-500mm f/5.0-7.1 OIS ultra-zoom lens is ready to accompany you wherever you go. As the longest lens in the LUMIX S series, it offers excellent handling and superb image quality, ideal for capturing distant subjects such as shy birds, wildlife or sports scenes where a tripod is not an option. With the optional dual teleconverter (DMW-STC20), you can achieve an impressive focal length of 1,000 mm. Exceptional image quality from 100 to 500 mm, fidelity of fine detail throughout. At a focal length of 500mm, the lens offers a significant perspective compression effect while maintaining image sharpness. Suitable for everything from the intricate lines of vehicles to the subtle textures of birds and wildlife. In addition, you can extend the zoom range up to 1,562mm for both stills and movies with the hybrid zoom function.

This lens is compatible with the optional 1.4x (DMW-STC14) and 2.0x (DMW-STC20) teleconverters and extends the focal length to 700mm or even 1000mm. Even at these extended focal lengths, the lens' compact design allows for handheld shooting without a tripod, making it ideal for dynamic telephotography in the field. Beautiful bokeh is one of the true pleasures of telephoto photography. This lens provides a smooth transition from sharp to out-of-focus areas, creating a natural sense of depth and rich texture. Precision-designed optics minimise edge contours, vignetting and double line blur to create stunning bokeh that highlights the subject clearly and impressively.

This ultrazoom allows you to not only capture subjects at a distance, but also take beautiful close-up images. With a shortest focusing distance of 0.8 m at the wide-angle end and a maximum magnification of 0.36× at the longest focal length, it isideal for all situations, from blooming flowers to butterflies landing near them. This lens offers excellent sharpness and resolution throughout the zoom range, resulting in uncompromising image quality.
At longer focal lengths, there is a tendency for chromatic aberration, which can reduce contrast and cause colour smearing. This is why the lens has a carefully optimized arrangement of two UED lenses (with extremely low dispersion) and two ED lenses (with very low dispersion). UED lenses offer even lower dispersion than ED lenses, and their properties are close to those of fluorite. This combination effectively corrects axial chromatic aberration and ensures sharp, high-contrast results.

With a range of 500 mm in a body length of approximately 196.1 mm and a weight of approximately 1285 g, this ultrazoom is always ready to go wherever you go. It is easy to carry, even to places where heavy equipment is impractical or where a tripod cannot be used. It's superior mobility allows you to shoot handheld so you never miss a crucial moment. LUMIX is taking steps towards greater environmental protection. Compared to the previous model, we reduced the number of packaging components by 11% and the use of plastic materials by 73%. In an effort to reduce our environmental impact, we have started to use packaging materials such as. compressed pulp.
Designed to adapt to your workflow, this lens offers responsive control in a wide range of shooting situations. For smooth and stable telephoto images, you can switch between optical image stabilisation modes or adjust the zoom torque using the fixed and infinitely adjustable zoom ring. The adjustable focus ring or focus button (Fn button) can be assigned to frequently used functions for quick access. In manual focus mode, the lens offers precise and intuitive settings that match your creative intent. Even when mounted on a tripod, the supplied mount allows you to rotate the lens between horizontal and vertical positions without having to move the tripod head.

The new zoom rigidity ring has adjustable sensitivity for optimal control. From ingenious composition to fast zooming, the lens offers much-needed precision handling without unwanted zoom movements. The focus switch allows you to choose between FULL and LIMIT settings for streamlined focusing and instant response to fast-moving subjects. Switch between optical image stabilisation modes to suit your shooting style. MODE 1 is ideal for casual photography, while MODE 2 is optimised for panoramic shots where it automatically detects and compensates for directional movement. The focus ring can also be used as a control ring to which you can assign key functions such as aperture and exposure compensation. You can change the direction of rotation of the focus ring to match your preferred control style. The lens also features a focus button that allows quick access to assigned functions such as hybrid zoom, which seamlessly extends the telephoto range. You can manually adjust the focus while zooming, allowing smooth transitions between subjects and expanding your creative options. The focus ring supports both linear and non-linear modes. In non-linear mode, focus shifts vary depending on the rotation speed of the ring, allowing for quick adjustments. In linear mode, the focus moves at a consistent, user-defined speed, allowing precise, mechanical-like control. This is especially useful for intuitive and precise focusing during video shooting.
The new two-phase linear drive and optical encoder enable very precise autofocusing at high speed. This lens has a dust- and splash-resistant design for shooting in the harshest conditions. Allows you to shoot in temperatures as low as -10°C. The fluorine coating on the front lens makes it easy to clean grease build-up. The advanced optics design and optimized internal body structure effectively suppress unwanted focal length shift. In high-contrast scenes, the micro-step aperture control allows smooth luminance transitions, preventing sudden exposure changes.
