The sole is the key part of the shoe that comes into direct contact with the surface. Its main function is to provide traction, protection and support to the foot. The materials used to make the sole, such as rubber, EVA (ethyl vinyl acetate) or TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane), are selected based on their durability, flexibility and shock absorbing ability. The midsole is a key component of sports footwear, located between the outer sole, which comes into direct contact with the surface, and the inside of the shoe. It serves to absorb shock, cushion and provide support to the foot. The materials used for the midsoles, such as EVA (ethyl vinyl acetate) or polyurethane, are chosen for their ability to offer a combination of lightness, durability and comfort.
Drop in footwear refers to the height difference between the heel and toe of the shoe. It has a major effect on how the foot hits the surface when walking or running. A low drop (0-4 mm) promotes a more natural forefoot stride. A higher drop (8-12 mm) may be more appropriate for runners with a greater tendency to heel strike or those who require more cushioning. Drop selection should be tailored to individual needs and running style.
