A sophisticated smartwatch hidden under an ordinary façade, the Garmin Fenix 3 is an excellent extension to your smartphone, and an uncompromising sporttester for enthusiastic athletes and outdoor adventurers. The watch is 20 grams lighter than its predecessor and is equipped with a sensitive GPS/GLONASS receiver with a new steel EXO antenna that is placed around the colour Chroma display. The display itself is always on and can last for up to 6 weeks (in Smart mode) on a single battery charge. With the GPS turned on, battery life ranges from 16 to 50 hours (depending on GPS settings).

Under the microscope

The smartwatch is equipped with a compass, a barometric altimeter, a sensitive GPS sensor, a pedometer, and a built-in thermometer. All of these features closely monitor various aspects of your physical activity and offer a wide range of fitness features to help you get in shape. You can easily set up a simple interval training, or (using a computer) go for a more complicated plan with varying intervals and different alarms. The watch comes with a selection of prepared training plans made for running, cycling, and swimming. Due to its ambient pressure sensor, the Garmin Fenix 3 also detects atmospheric pressure changes and can warn you of an incoming storm.

By combining the smartwatch with a HR Run Premium heart rate sensor, you can raise your fitness game to the next level. For example, your watch will show the recommended regeneration time after each activity. Everytime you run for more than 10 minutes, it calculates the maximum VO2 level and uses that information to evaluate how you would do on longer tracks: 5 km, 10 km, half marathon and marathon.

All measured values are automatically saved in the memory and then transferred to the Garmin Connect diary on your computer or smartphone via ANT+, WiFi or Bluetooth. Garmin Connect is an online training diary for storing, analysing, and sharing sports activities that were recorded by your Garmin watch. It is used by millions of users around the world and offers a user-friendly interface and multilanguage support. Garmin Connect allows you to keep track of your progress over a given period of time, or share your results and routes with friends and other users.
