The Synology DS218play includes a hardware acceleration transfer system and supports H.264/H.265 1080p and H.265 4K codecs. It converts 4K videos to 1080p to play on non-4K devices and at slower speeds, whether that is local media players or remote mobile devices. In addition, you can transfer videos in the original 4K resolution to your media player or 4K TV within your local network environment. The are fitted with WD Red drives which give you 8TB space for your collections.

NAS as a File Centre

The DS File is a fast and secure tool for sharing and managing your files stored on the Synology DS218play. Upload your data from your Mac or PC just by dragging it. Advanced filters make it easier to find documents, photos or videos. NAS can also be used as a centralised backup location. Whenever a file is edited, changes are automatically backed up by Cloud Station Backup. It synchronises files between DiskStation and multiple platforms including Windows PC, Mac, Linux, iOS, Android and mobile Windows, Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox, Box, hubiC, and Baidu Cloud.
