Synology DS218play, multimedia NAS
The Synology DS218play includes a hardware acceleration transfer system and supports the H.264 / H.265 1080p and H.265 4K codecs. It converts 4K videos to 1080p so that they can be played on non-4K devices and at lower speeds, whether it's local media players or remote mobile devices. In addition, you can transfer videos from their original 4K resolution to your media player or 4K TV within your local network environment.
4K video on any device
The Synology DS218play has integrated real-time video decoding hardware already built in. Specifically, this is a 10-bit H.265 codec support. As a result, 4K videos automatically adapt to your device's screen during playback so that you can play the saved 4K video on a Full HD TV or on your mobile phone.
Wide support for many additional packages
As a result of the extensive range of additional software packages that are available at the Synology Centre, you get more than just a regular NAS. Storage with a capacity of up to 24TB
Synology DS218play offers support for two 2.5" or 3.5" hard drives. Drives with a capacity of up to 12TB are currently supported. Other expansion ports that are supported include two USB 3.0 ports and, of course, an RJ-45 1GbE LAN port.
The NAS as a File Server
The Synology DS218j contains a fast and secure tool called DS File for sharing and managing your files. You can upload your data by simply dragging them onto your Mac or PC. Advanced filters make it easier to find your documents, photos or videos. The NAS can also be used as a centralised backup location. Whenever a file is edited, the changes are automatically backed up by the Cloud Station Backup. It synchronises files between the DiskStation and multiple platforms including Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS, Android, and Windows Mobile as well as Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox, Box, hubiC, and Baidu Cloud.
