Mars board game: Teraformace Expedition Ares is a stand-alone game based on the world-famous bestseller Mars: Teraformation! and introduces new mechanisms and dynamics that will draw you into the battle for dominance in interplanetary development. In this moment of unprecedented prosperity and progress that we have achieved as humanity, we are ready to step beyond the previously seemingly insurmountable limits and find a new home among the stars. Each player represents one corporation contributing directly or indirectly to the fertilization of Mars (with the goal of making a decent profit). The game follows the principles known from the game Mars: Teraformation, but it's a new, separate game. Previous experience is useful, but not a prerequisite! Will you lead humanity into a new age?

What the game is about
Your main goal is to increase your corporation's so-called terraforming rating (TR), which is based on improving the key factors of Mars: temperature, the oxygen content of the atmosphere and the amount of water. You'll collect and play project cards that represent a variety of technological, construction and environmental projects. The game is played in rounds in which you secretly choose one of five possible phases - Development, Building, Action, Production and Research. Each player who chooses a given phase gains an advantage in the execution of that phase, and all phases are played simultaneously.
End of game
The game ends when all major factors reach their maximum: the temperature rises above +8°C, oxygen reaches 14% and all 9 ocean plates are face up. The winner is the player with the highest winning point total, which you get from TR, forest tokens and completed projects. Mars: Terraforming - Expedition Ares also offers a two-player co-op mode where you try to terraform Mars together before time runs out, and a solo variant with a virtual opponent and selectable difficulty levels.
