On-Road Chassis
To create the best handling characteristics for drifting, Traxxas has used the 4-Tec 2.0 200mm on-road chassis. It has developed a new independent suspension for it, which is also adjustable. Power from the motor is transferred to the rear wheels — 2WD drive. In addition to the hard compound tyres for surfaces such as asphalt, a set of soft compound tyres for use on smooth surfaces is also included. The bumper and mounts have also been modified, and the model now uses a modern clipless body with a licensed Ford Mustang look. In addition to the proven controller with three driving modes, a receiver with a specially modified algorithm for drifting has also been used. You can easily adjust the drifting modes and the intensity of the assistance in the app. For a smooth transition into a skid, the transmitter is equipped with a switch to activate the electric handbrake.
60° Steering Angle and Drift Modes
The 4-Tec Drift provides more than 60° of steering angle at full lock, allowing for big sideways drifts and quick transitions. The front suspension is specially tuned for drifting with steering knuckles, steering links and tie rods optimised for maximum range of motion. The model allows you to choose between three drifting modes, which can be fine-tuned using the Traxxas Link app. The innovative TSM Drift technology replaces outdated gyroscopes. Even novices can drift like pros without special knowledge or skill, and advanced drivers will appreciate the fine-tuning for even more precise control.
Clipless Body
The clipless Ford Mustang body excels in durability, ease of use, and sophisticated details. The beautiful metallic paint contrasts with the plastic elements for a stunning look and modern Mustang style. The body mounts are neatly integrated into the moulded bonnet vents and rear spoiler for extra reinforcement and a clean look. The 4-Tec Drift rides on a new rear-wheel-drive platform based on the responsive 4-Tec 200mm chassis. The front suspension components are new to provide optimal drift geometry and a steering angle of over 60°. Drivers can also take advantage of the customisation options.
4-Tec 2.0 Chassis
The Traxxas 4-Tec 2.0 chassis is made of a spatial composite moulding (nylon filled with glass fibres), which is both lightweight and rigid. Everything has been designed to achieve the lowest possible centre of gravity. To simplify maintenance, the chassis has a modular construction. The front, central, and rear sections of the model can be easily separated. The 4-Tec 3.0 chassis effectively overcomes unevenness with oil-filled dampers featuring exclusive X-rings that provide an excellent seal. The dampers are adjustable — the spring preload can be changed using spacers, you can adjust the oil viscosity in the damper, or you can replace the springs with others of different stiffness. The installed extra-soft springs provide maximum weight transfer to initiate a drift.

- Fixed gear backlash — precise adjustment of the gear backlash is now a breeze. The motor mount contains mounting holes that are assigned to pinions with a specific number of teeth, which determines the precise gear backlash setting.
- Adjustable battery mount — a quick-release battery mount with dual height capability accommodates a wide range of batteries – both flat NiMH and 2S LiPo.
- Cable holder — the simple plastic clip for securing the cables has been replaced in this model with a partition that defines a safe path for the cables.
- Waterproof receiver box — drift whatever the weather, the receiver is housed in a box with an O-ring seal and a foam cable grommet.
- Adjustable wheel camber — rear steel tie rods allow for easy suspension adjustment to fine-tune the handling characteristics exactly to your liking.
- 2WD Drive — the rear-wheel drive is implemented directly via a transfer case (without a differential) with massive gears, 48DP module and 5° helical gearing.
- Powerful Titan 12T motor — the car model is fitted with a 550 series 21T Titan DC motor, modified for smooth and predictable performance over a wide speed range. The rotor at the rear of the motor contains a propeller that forces air into the motor and effectively cools it.
- Traxxas XL-5 electronic controller — Waterproof Traxxas XL-5 electronic controller with three driving modes, support for modern high-capacity LiPo batteries and easy operation with the EZ-Set button. The XL-5 controller is equipped with a training mode that limits full throttle to 50%. This allows novice drivers or children to gradually familiarise themselves with the model's features and prepare for the car's full power. Thermal protection, gold-plated connectors, and incredibly low internal resistance are the hallmarks of this controller.
Accessories for normal operation
For normal operation of a Traxxas RC car, you will need screw glue, high-quality tyre glue, silicone damper oil, and a set of screwdrivers. Screw glue is applied to the thread or head of the screw to fix it in place, and the vibrations caused by driving will not allow the screw connection to loosen. Screw glue has a special composition that allows the screw connection to be easily loosened with an appropriate amount of torque without damaging the screw head. Never use ordinary superglue; a screw glued in this way may be impossible to loosen.
Tyre glue is used to glue the tyres to the wheel rim. It is always necessary for the tyre to be firmly glued to the wheel rim all the way around. If the tyre is not glued all the way around, it can tear. Tyre glue has a special composition that is able to bond materials such as rubber or nylon, and at the same time, the glue is flexible after curing.
Occasionally, it is necessary to top up the silicone oil in the model's dampers. During normal operation, only slight leaks of silicone oil occur along the damper piston rods. If the surface of the damper piston rods or the condition of the seals is poor, the oil leakage can be significant. For these cases, so-called repair kits are supplied. In the range of tuning parts, piston rods with an extremely hard TiN (titanium nitride) coating are available for all dampers. Piston rods with a TiN surface are easily recognisable by their gold-green colour.
