Maximum durability, precision and easy maintenance
The model's chassis is made of a blue anodised aluminium plate. The chassis is consistently reinforced in exposed areas, such as the neck at the axles. A new central brace and additional cross braces leading to the aluminium shock towers are used. The drivetrain uses generously sized metal gears. The wheel suspension is completely redesigned, using classic durable knuckles, new arm covers, the suspension is adjustable and powerful blue anodised aluminium GT Maxx shocks are used. Premium SledgeHammer wheels provide perfect traction. Changing the battery is lightning fast, thanks to the clipless body mount and the patented partition in the battery compartment. The latest electronics along with a powerful 2000kV brushless motor are used for power and control. The VXL-6 controller provides full telemetry, which you can view on your phone (a Bluetooth module must be added to the transmitter, sold separately). The receiver is equipped with the exclusive TSM electronic stabilisation technology, which helps with model control. A wide range of accessories is of course available, including complete spare and tuning parts.
Aluminium chassis, drivetrain
The RC model's chassis consists of a lightweight and durable 3.2mm thick aluminium plate. The edges are shaped along the entire length to increase strength. Giant front and rear cross braces, attached at six points, provide increased durability in the most exposed areas when the model lands, which are the chassis necks at the suspension. For overall connection and reinforcement, a patented T-shaped central brace is used. Just like the chassis and central brace, the shock towers are also aluminium with a beautiful blue anodised finish. The extreme power of the motor is transmitted to the wheels via a sufficiently sized drivetrain, which was designed for a long service life. Massive steel gears and three differentials with metal gears transmit the power to high-strength steel half-shafts. The front axle uses constant velocity CV joints with a smooth action. The centre shafts are fitted with a boot that keeps the oil in, so the joints are always lubricated.
Front, rear and centre differential, GT-Maxx oil shocks
Three differentials with metal gearing, housed in ball bearings, are responsible for distributing power between the individual wheels. The centre differential is filled with thick oil to provide appropriate lock-up and evenly distribute power between the axles. The front and rear differentials use beefier steel gears that are 20% larger and 75% thicker than common types in this category. Four extra-large GT-Maxx shocks effectively absorb even the hardest impacts. The oil-filled aluminium shock body is threaded and has a nut for easy spring preload adjustment. To prevent oil leakage around the piston rod, the shock is equipped with double X-rings.
Axles with robust knuckles, motor mount
The Sledge features an all-new front suspension with C-shaped knuckles. The parts are large and robust while maintaining precise geometry. The massive hardened steel suspension pins are secured with lock nuts for added safety. You can easily change the suspension setup by re-bolting the links. The motor mount is cast from aluminium and supports the motor along its entire length. In addition, the mount efficiently dissipates heat through the chassis and is equipped with an integrated fan holder. A fan can be purchased as a tuning part TRA3476.
SledgeHammer tyres and battery mount
The model uses 3.8" spoked wheels with 6.7" SledgeHammer tyres, which were inspired by motocross. The high, stiff tread pattern ensures long life and durability. The tyres have an improved system for connecting to the wheel. Until now, the tyres on Traxxas models were available as a tuning part. Now they are standard on the model. Changing the battery is easy and lightning fast, thanks to the snap-in partition. The battery holds firmly in place even during the hardest impacts.
Superior traction, performance and durability on any terrain
The proven tread pattern of the Sledgehammer tyre provides maximum traction on a variety of surfaces, especially on rough terrain, gravel and grass. Sledgehammer tyres feature a lightweight belt in the carcass that prevents bulging at high speeds for rock-solid confidence and stability. The all-new waterproof Traxxas 2275 steering servo has a tremendous force of 25kg.cm. The servo is equipped with metal gears, two ball bearings for smooth operation, and a metal centre case for efficient cooling. The model is powered by a powerful 2000rpm/V brushless motor with a robust 5mm shaft. The 4-pole design gives the motor smooth operation with smooth acceleration. For effective cooling even under high load, the motor is equipped with a metal body. Complemented by 6.5mm gold-plated connectors.
VXL-6S controller, real-time telemetry
The RC car model is equipped with a VXL-6S brushless controller. The controller has an input voltage of 4S-6S LiPo (max: 25.2 volts) and allows for simple one-button setup and status indication is provided by an LED, while heat dissipation is handled by a massive heatsink and fan. The exclusive controller with advanced electronics is equipped for real-time telemetry measurement. With the wireless Bluetooth module (sold separately) and the Traxxas Link app, you can monitor speed, motor RPM and battery voltage, directly in real time on your phone. The controller provides telemetry data and no additional sensors are required.
Traxxas TQi RC set with Bluetooth ready
Traxxas has prepared a brand new range of two-channel RC sets with Bluetooth connectivity for you. The Bluetooth module (sold separately) allows you to connect the RC model to the clear graphical Traxxas Link application, which you can install for free on your Smartphone. The Traxxas Link app for Apple devices is available for free on the AppStore, the app for Google Android devices is free on GooglePlay. The Traxxas Link App is a powerful application that gives you complete control over the operation and tuning of your Traxxas RC model with stunning visualisation and absolute setup precision. Traxxas Link can display telemetry data provided by the model in real time, such as speed, RPM, temperature, battery voltage and model tilt (the telemetry provided varies depending on the specific model type). You can share RC model settings, you can create any number of profiles for a specific track or user, e.g. children. All in an app with brilliant graphics, which is a matter of course from Traxxas. Telemetry options vary between models. It may be necessary to install telemetry sensors to obtain telemetry data.
Traxxas TQi Receiver, Traxxas Stability Management
The Traxxas TQi 5-channel TSM RC receiver with telemetry for Traxxas TQi transmitters offers simple operation, push-button pairing and LED status indication. The receiver integrates 3-axis MEMS sensors for learning the receiver's position. The 5-channel receiver is also equipped with two connectors for connecting RPM (speed) and V/T (voltage / temperature) telemetry sensors. Furthermore, a telemetry expansion module can be connected to the 4-pin connector, into which you can plug up to another 6 sensors, including a very accurate GPS speed sensor. The Traxxas Stability Management (TSM) stabilisation system allows you to experience not only power, speed, acceleration and cornering at extreme speeds, but also ensures much easier steering and control on slippery surfaces such as dust, smooth concrete or even ice and snow. The receiver contains a MEMS 3-axis gyro and accelerometer, which evaluates the model's movement at a rate of 100 times per second and corrects the model's driving direction with appropriate interventions in the steering of the front wheels. Traxxas TSM does not limit motor power - you have 100% control over the motor power. The algorithms are tuned for each model separately. The level of assistance is set using the multifunction controller on the transmitter or in the Traxxas Link app. When the model tumbles, there are protective plastic elements on the body that protect the body from being scratched or broken. Once the plastic parts wear out, you simply replace them. The rear wing provides high downforce to give you plenty of traction even at high speeds. The inside of the body is equipped with a frame that serves as a reinforcement when the model rolls over.
Accessories for normal operation
For normal operation of a Traxxas RC car, you need screw glue, quality tyre glue, silicone oil for the shocks and a set of screwdrivers. Screw glue is applied to the thread or head of the screw, which fixes it and the vibrations caused by driving do not allow the screw connection to loosen. Screw glue has a special composition that allows easy loosening of the screw connection with a reasonable torque, without damaging the screw head. Never use ordinary superglue, a screw glued in this way may be impossible to loosen at all. Tyre glue is used to glue the tyres to the wheel rim. It is always necessary for the tyre to be firmly glued to the wheel rim all around the circumference. If the tyre is not glued all the way around, it may tear. Tyre glue has a special composition that is able to glue materials such as rubber or nylon and at the same time, after hardening, the glue is flexible.
Occasionally, it is necessary to top up the silicone oil in the model's shocks. Normal operation results in only minor leaks of silicone oil along the shock piston rods. If the surface of the shock piston rods or the condition of the seals is in poor condition, the oil leak can be large. For these cases, so-called repair kits are supplied. In the range of tuning parts, piston rods with an extremely hard TiN (titanium nitride) coating are supplied for all shocks. Piston rods with a TiN surface are easily recognisable by their gold-green colour. Traxxas universal chargers can charge Traxxas LiPo and NiMH batteries. Traxxas chargers are a simple and safe way to charge batteries. Traxxas uses a unique iD system, so you can always be sure that you connect everything simply and safely. There is a chip integrated in the battery connector, which the Traxxas charger automatically recognises and sets all the battery charging parameters for you.
