The axe has been forged and is very well-balanced. The handle is made of ash wood. The Vikings often used their axes for fighting, because not all of them had to right to carry a sword. Only high priests, chiefs, jarls and kings could afford expensive imported swords equipped with a good blade. Yet even these higher classes had axes which were richly decorated. Viking fighters had access to domestic swords, but these were rather inferior. Production could also not keep up with the demand for fighting swords. That is why a simple axe was often the weapon used most widely by Viking fighters. The axe was relatively inexpensive, yet it was effective enough. Quality Blade

The weapon blade is made of spring steel: ČSN 14260 / DIN 1.7103 (6% C, 0.5-0.85 Mn, 1.3-1.6% Si, 0.8-1.05 Cr). The blade is hardened and then fired in a forge. The hardness of the blades ranges from 53-55 HRC.
