WD Purple Pro 8TB
WD Purple Pro 8TB HDD Key Features
- 256 MB memory cache
- Western Digital 3.5" disk for ordinary drive bays
- It communicates with a PC or other devices using the SATA III interface
Other Hard Disk Features
The HDD boasts a unique design. Inside the enclosure there is a mechanism with moving platters accompanied by disk read/write heads. These mechanical parts don't take shocks and impact well, but at the same time you get an excellent price/storage capacity ratio. The key criterion that determines the speed of a HDD is the number of platter revolutions per minute, generally known as RPM. With the WD Purple Pro 8TB, we have 7200 rev/min RPM. This is ideal for demanding users, for example video editors, graphic artists, people who play PC games, and everybody else who deal with large amounts of data. File access speed and overall stability is also impacted by the disk buffer, usually called cache. The Western Digital hard drive includes a 256 MB cache that stores the last used data for their prompt retrieval and reading.
Connecting the Western Digital Hard Drive
If you want to install the WD Purple Pro 8TB in your computer or other device, it requires a 3.5" slot. The communication between the HDD and PC is done via the SATA III interface with a speed of 3 Gbit/s. This technology is one of the most popular HDD data transfer options available and delivers a throughput of 600 MB/s.
