The WD Red 4TB hard drive is one of the high load internal HDDs for 24/7 operation in data centres. 3.5" HDDs are made chiefly for desktop PCs, data centres, and other data-processing devices. One of the most important characteristics is undoubtedly the rotational speed (RPM). The 5400 RPM RPM meets the needs of any casual user. You can look forward to a total data capacity of 4000 GB. The device uses a 256 MB memory cache. You can connect the Western Digital hard disk and a computer or other device takes place through the SATA III interface.
WD Red 4TB Hard Drive Key Features
Read speed up to 180 MB/s and write speed up to 180 MB/s
256 MB memory cache
Western Digital 3.5" format disk for standard bays
Power consumption under standard load is 4,8 W, while in stand-by mode it holds at 0.4 W
You can connect it to a PC or other devices using the SATA III interface
HDDs don't have much resistance against physical shocks, but they are also more affordable than the newer SSDs
RAID technology support enables better data loss prevention
Improved data recording thanks to Advanced Format technology
Other Hard Disk Features
Standard HDDs are notable for their construction. The enclosure conceals a mechanism that utilises moving platters accompanied by hard disk heads that read and write the data. These mechanical parts are admittedly more sensitive to shocks, but this weak point is well-compensated by an excellent price/storage capacity ratio. The important criterion that determines the speed of a hard disk is the number of rotations per minute (RPM). With the WD Red 4TB, you can look forward to 5400 RPM revolutions per minute. This is a popular option for home PCs preferred by users who don't require high performance. File access speed and stability is also significantly affected by the disk buffer, usually called cache. The Western Digital platter drive includes a 256 MB cache that keeps the last written data for their speedy reading.
Connecting the Western Digital Hard Disk
If you want to mount the WD Red 4TB in your laptop or other device, you need a 3.5" slot. All communication with the computer is done through the SATA III interface with a standard speed of 6 Gbit/s. This technology ranks among the most popular HDD data transfer solutions available and delivers a speed of 600 MB/s.

Proč se tyto disky s technologií zápisu SMR uvádějí se zde jako vhodné do NAS
Do NAS vzadnem případě nic s technologií SMR a už vůbec ne do RAIDU.
