DDR4 is a type of computer operating memory. DDR4 memory is currently the highest version available and delivers faster information processing and lower power consumption compared to the previous DDR3 generation. How can you choose DDR4 RAM and what should you look out for when choosing? Read on.

Technical Specifications of DDR4 Memory
RAM architecture has been the same since the 1970s, and DDR4 Memory (also known as DDR4 RAM - Random-Access Memory) is no exception. However, individual versions differ in voltage and are therefore not backward-compatible with motherboard sockets. What makes DDR4 memory different and better?
The option to shift the lock to prevent connection to an incompatible socket.
The operating voltage has been reduced to 1.05-1.5 V.
The frequency ranges from 2133.33 to 4266.67 MHz.
Higher transfer rates of 1.6 to 3.2 GT/s.
The timing has been increased to at least 12 CL.
More pins - DDR4 DIMM has 284 and DDR4 SO-DIMM has 256.
The pins are only 0.85mm wide.
The first DDR4 RAM appeared on the commercial market in the second half of 2014. The first prototype was released by Samsung in 2011.
How to Choose the Right Type of DDR4 Memory?
If you are going to choose DDR4 Memory, consider what type of computer the DDR 4 RAM will be meant for. It's all about fitting the memory into your computer. Also, consider the motherboard type since not all RAM supports DDR4.
The larger DDR4 RAM has been designed for desktop computers.
For laptops, on the other hand, compact DDR4 SO-DIMMs are better.
DDR4 Memory Capacity
DDR4 memory capacity is specified in GB. The size of the DDR4 RAM affects how smoothly the system and programs on it will run. So before choosing DDR4 RAM, consider the demanding tasks your computer will be processing. You can find all the necessary information and an overview of the computer's activities in the table below.
Memory type
Optimal use
DDR4 4GB
Office work, playing movies and music, playing less demanding games.
DDR4 8GB
The smooth running of most games and demanding programs.
DDR4 16GB
Professional use for rendering, modelling and demanding graphics software.
DDR4 32GB and higher
Professional work with high-resolution graphics, and virtual reality.
Which Frequency of DDR4 Memory Should You Choose?
The frequency of DDR4 memory determines the speed of the selected memory, i.e. its ability to read and write data. Generally speaking, the higher the DDR4 RAM frequency, the better. For DDR4 RAM, the frequency ranges from 800 MHz to 5 100 MHz. 3 200 MHz DDR4 RAM is sufficient for normal use and gaming.
i
Support for DDR4 memory can only be found in newer motherboards. Older ones will only be compatible with DDR3 RAM.
