The camera is made of solid magnesium alloy, has a moisture-proof seal and is frost-resistant up to -10°C. Due to this, it can withstand even the most demanding weather conditions.
The resolution of the Digital LIVE MOS sensor has jumped to 20.3 Mpx when compared to the previous GH4. The camera no longer has an anti-aliasing filter but has the advanced Venus Engine image processor, which has improved texture processing.
Multi-pixel Luminance Generation and Intelligent Detail Processing ensure crisp and sharp detail. The 3D colour control system emphasises shade, sensitivity and brightness for rich and real colours.
Acceptable number of buttons and controls simplify camera operation
The Depth from Defocus automatic focusing system uses contrast comparison methods. And in combination with the new processor, the time needed to measure the distances is significantly reduced (in AFS mode, it is only 0.05 seconds). Additionally, the system handles a very fast sequential shooting (12 fps with fixed focus, 9 fps with continuous sharpening) in full resolution using a mechanical shutter.

The camera supports the 4:2:2/10bit standard for colour processing at the level acceptable for professional film production. More than 5 billion colours perfectly capture every shot you take.
The Dual IS 2 mechanical 5-axis image stabilizer effectively prevents camera shaking during exposure, both when taking pictures and recording videos. Additionally, the stabilizer can eliminate blur caused by a longer movement, which makes it better than conventional stabilization systems.
