ASUS HYPER M.2 x16 Card V2

ASUS HYPER M.2 x16 Card V2
The ASUS HYPER M.2 x16 Card V2 controller expands your system with four NVMe SSD slots via a single PCIe 3.0 x16 interface. By utilising direct and unused PCIe lanes from the processor, it helps to build a high-performance data storage solution. The card consolidates multiple drives into a single, extremely fast RAID array with a total transfer bandwidth of up to 128Gbps. Full support for Intel VROC technology and AMD Ryzen Threadripper platforms confirms its suitability for professional workstations and servers.
Key features of the ASUS HYPER M.2 x16 Card V2 controller
- Uses a PCIe 3.0 x16 interface
- Connect up to four M.2 NVMe SSDs
- Total transfer bandwidth of up to 128Gbps
- Supports Intel VROC technology and AMD Threadripper platforms
- Create a bootable RAID array
- Each drive is powered by a 14W two-phase system
- Active cooling consists of a heatsink and fan
Controller power and cooling
For stable operation even under heavy loads, each M.2 slot is powered by a two-phase system that delivers up to 14W of power, covering even power-hungry NVMe drives. Effective heat dissipation is key to maintaining consistent speed. The card therefore integrates active cooling with a large heatsink and a fan, which can be switched off if necessary. This system maintains low operating temperatures and prevents SSD performance from dropping due to overheating.
RAID array with the ASUS HYPER M.2 x16 Card V2 controller
The card supports Intel Virtual RAID on CPU technology and AMD Ryzen Threadripper platforms. This solution uses unused PCIe lanes directly from the processor and lets you build a bootable RAID array without the need for a dedicated hardware controller. Direct communication between the CPU and the SSDs reduces latency and increases the throughput of the entire storage system.
Install up to four M.2 drives
The controller simplifies the installation of multiple NVMe drives into a single setup. It includes four M.2 slots that accommodate drives of all common form factors, including 2242, 2260, 2280, and the longest 22110 variant. Each slot has its own LED to indicate drive activity. The card installs into a standard PCIe x16 slot, making effective use of the motherboard's available resources for data storage.
