It is equipped with a 4EV optical image stabilizer and takes great shots straight away in dim light. STM (Stepping Motor Technology) technology ensures stable and quiet continuous AF, making your movies not only smooth, but also quiet as the autofocus motor will not register any distracting noise on the sound recording.

The lens includes aspherical and UD features, which correct any aspherical and chromatic aberrations that might spoil your shots. The lens is also equipped with Super Spectra coating, which helps ensure accurate colour balance and high contrast. It also suppresses flare and ghosting and achieves magnificent images in any lighting. The optional lens hood can further reduce incidence of flare. The Manual focus ring enables full manual focusing even when shooting movies or using the filter. A circular aperture with 7 blades ensures a pleasant background blur when shooting with a wide aperture, which is ideal for creating a sense of depth and achieves the impression that the object emerges from the background.
