Wireless connectivity is an innovative technology that allows devices to communicate without cables with a computer or other devices. They can be powered by a classic battery (AA or AAA type) with long life, or by an integrated battery for practicality, but with less life. Battery life can also be further reduced by the presence of a backlight. The standard range of such a connection is 10 metres, but some devices can communicate over longer distances. This makes them ideal for laptops and for carrying around.

This small device allows wireless peripherals such as keyboards and mice to communicate with the computer. It is usually plugged into the computer's USB port and acts as a bridge between the computer and the wireless device.
