The Turtle Beach Atom Controller is designed for playing games on mobile phones running Android 8.0 or higher. The device consists of two separate modules that connect to your phone during gameplay and communicate with each other via a wireless frequency. The design allows you to magnetically join both parts into a single compact unit for easy carrying in a pocket or case. The controller connects to your mobile phone using wireless Bluetooth technology.
The controller's two separate modules use a 2.4GHz wireless connection to communicate with each other. The device connects to the mobile phone itself using low-latency Bluetooth technology. This combination prevents signal transmission delays during gameplay. This gives the user an instant response to button presses in cloud services.
The design includes integrated spring-loaded clamps with an adjustable range of 67mm to 92mm. You can place the phone in the controller even with its protective case on, so you don't have to keep taking it off. The two-module system holds the phone firmly in place throughout use. The clamps adapt to most common Android smartphones.
Each of the two separate controller modules contains its own integrated battery cell. Together, the batteries provide 20 hours of continuous operation on a single charge. Recharging is done using the included 1m USB-C cable. A quick charge takes approximately 2.5 hours, reducing downtime between gaming sessions.
The layout of the controls matches standard console controllers, giving you that familiar console gaming feel. There are a total of 14 buttons, including analogue sticks and rear triggers. Ergonomically shaped grips help keep your hands in a natural position during use. The shape prevents your fingers and palms from tiring quickly, even during longer gaming sessions on your mobile phone.
The accompanying Atom Companion app, which you can download from the Google Play store, is used to configure additional features. In it, users can configure the sensitivity of the controls or search for compatible game titles. The app is also used to install firmware updates to maintain full functionality. This means the controller is managed directly from your phone's interface.
The device is designed to work with modern cloud platforms. Players can launch titles from services like Xbox Game Pass, GeForce Now, or Steam Link. The stable wireless data transfer minimises latency when playing demanding titles. A one-month subscription to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate is also included in the package.
